Cimaruta means "Sprig of Rue" it is an amulet whose origin is lost in the mists of time. The amulets that are usually made of silver, depict a sprig of rue with various small symbols among the branches, most commonly keys, crescents, daggers, stars and flowers. Today's cimarute are the direct evolution of ancient Etruscan amulets; historical uses are intended as protective spells against evil magic, witchcraft, and the evil eye, especially jettatura for newborns. The main symbols are the moon, the snake and the key. These represent the goddess Artemis in her triple form: as Hecate (the key), Diana (the moon) and Proserpina (the snake). This ancient meaning of the Goddess also appears in the ancient writings of Ovid and Horace where the goddess Diana in their writings was also linked to witchcraft. Several examples attributable to cimarute are also present in museums of Etruscan artifacts. Hand Made 925 Possibility of adding a silver chain together with the pendant for €20, so total €70
