Origin and History: Meito China was a brand name used by Nagoya Seito Sho, a Japanese porcelain manufacturer established in 1908 by Kotero Asukai, a former engineer at Noritake. The name "Meito" is a Japanese word for a fine or excellent sword. The company continued to produce fine china under the Meito brand even after being taken over and renamed Narumi Seito in 1943.
